On the feast of St. Francis de Sales (January 24) we have re-positioned next to the organ, Peter EHRLER canvas representing the saint. This painting was painted in 1779 (the signature at the bottom of the painting attests), that is to say immediately after construction of the building.
The holy bishop of Geneva is depicted holding a book open in his left hand and a pen in his right hand. Page of the book available to us indicates that he is writing to his "dear Philotée. This is Jane Frances Fremyot, became Madame de Chantal by marrying a gentleman of the royal army officer, known today as Sainte Jeanne de Chantal. The meeting between these two exceptional people in a particular way mark the beginning of 17 th century. The influence they have on each other continues to blossom and flourish over a match in which there remains only the writings of S Francis de Sales.
" No, Philotée, spiritual life does no harm when it is authentic. Instead, it brings everything to perfection. If it should prevent someone to honor the righteous duties of his state is, undoubtedly, it is false. " (Introduction to the Devout Life, No. 20)
In 2010 we celebrated the fourth centenary of the founding of the Order of the Visitation, their common work.
